EcoLite Mission: To illuminate the world with Healthier, Cleaner Burning candles made from renewable resources

EcoLite is family owned and operated by Dana Harris.

We are blessed to have the opportunity to live in one of the most wonderful, pristine and remote locations in Australia, Groote Eylandt.  Away from all the hustle and bustle, we bring into being our creations on the land of the Anindilyakwa people.

It is with much gratitude that we enjoy such a wonderful opportunity.

The ‘EcoLite Candles’ story began around mid 2006 with the approach of Candlemas (otherwise known as Imbolc, a Pagan Sabbat celebrated around 1st August in the Southern Hemisphere and 1st February in the North).

Inspired by the Goddess Brigidt, our Candlemas celebrations were centred around a simple candle making ritual in which a small group of like minded friends were to create candles. Intentions were to be made into the candles and released upon burning (simple candle magick).

So, we started researching ‘Candle Making’ as none of us or our friends had ever made candles before.

Our research on candle making began to uncover some truths that, at the time we did not want to know…

Did you know, the candles we use in everyday situations are made from paraffin based wax which is derived from petroleum? And petroleum based candles release harmful toxins and potentially dangerous carcinogens when burned.

So we set out to find a natural, environmentally friendly alternative.

Our quest first lead us to soy wax, where we found ourselves quite at home creating designs inspired by the elements, the Goddess and the ‘Light’.

We then discovered Palm Wax and it’s wonderful rigidity which enabled us to create the much loved Pillar Candle.

Attracted to and continually inspired by ‘the light’, our craft then gave rise to our beautiful Suncatcher range.
